In 2002, while Vulgar Unicorn was writing its final album (as Persona Non Grata's 'The Fine Art of Living') Neil Randall began composing material for a fresh project, 'Putain Media'. Much of this remained in limbo until 2014, when he met Julia Maul at Nintendo of Europe.

Discovering a shared love of music - and videogames - the pair swiftly formed Niederrad 16. Over the next four years, across Germany and the UK, original material was reworked, and new tracks added, until the album was finally complete.

Built on stripped-down, pomp-free Prog Rock shot through with Chiptune, Darkwave and Pianowork anachronisms, ‘All Our Yesterdays' is a conceptual exploration of the past, a cathartic anthology of events that exists only in memory...

Night-sky gaze Blissful daze Cosmos wide Worlds whirl by… Night-sky craze [Rocket’s flight] Wistful ways [Rocket’s light] Window wide [Rockets’ glade] Life slips by… [Rockets fade…]

Shutterbug 02:45
I can't look There's bromide rushing through my veins I see A thousand words within my frame So close A wider-angle print to find One more Press to start rewind Filter fast Your grainy shape fades from my sight See how An aperture for midday light Stop here I cap the lens to set you free Your face A negative, it's ecstasy Running now A subtle chance to flatten you Distance kept To stop it up and focus through Breathe in You never seem to miss a trick Dead stop I press to shoot and click click click I watch your eyes and click click click...

Radio Days 04:21
It’s one of those nights tonight Second hand on my watch times the lethargy Suburban sun slipping from my sight Power lines sing electrical harmony Bathe myself in the neon light From the sign fizzing under my balcony I can hear the world’s thoughts tonight Distant hum softened almost to melody Tripping this nocturnal phase Looking for sense in this haze Admit that it’s all just a craze But these are my Radio Days This isn’t what I thought I’d be Tap, tap, tap to the sound of the plastic word I should set myself drifting free But I’m awake to the sound of the early bird I’m starting to remember me Listen hard, hear my dreams if I really try Scent of roses on a gentle breeze Pour a drink, shut my eyes, breathe a silver sigh Tripping this nocturnal phase Looking for sense in this haze Admit that it’s all just a craze But these are my Radio Days Learning the song as it plays Shake things out so many ways Lost in your glittering gaze And these are our Radio Days

Cannot count, on the run, subtle robbery Line of sight, disappears, lost the melody Small assassin, watch your back, he's a protégé Partial thought, in your head, it's an X-Ray One two, one two, like a hacksaw Midday sun, on your back, it's an awful bore Flat surface, frictionless, want to tell me how? Distant lens, metal eye, got me trapped now Sharp focus face Animated disgrace Frame-by-frame haste Through the camera obscura Viewfinder race In a wide-angle space Hide your face From the camera obscura Made my way, crystal clear, like a dragonfly Pistol pimp, in the rear view, an alibi. Black and white, celluloid in disarray Spoil all the jokes, bad speech, Independence Day Quick buck, fucked up, on account of me Paperboy, soon buckle under scrutiny Jet smashed, train wreck, but they won't condone Guillotine, kerosene, now my cover's blown

Silent house by silent park Cradled in a black-hole dark Dreamers float a slumbered thought Sweet reveries, each cut from nought Left to right, the numbers rise Static chatters on the lines Each crackling word creeps round the clock Drink and drag, and tick and tock Spinning through the days Nameless on the waves Analogue and free Earth, Moon, you and me
6.
Steal a dollar mark Cut a path to Park Embrace the sunshine hues And let them capture you
7.
Roll the dice Breath a brand new name, now Plot the path On a far-flung map before you Fly the flag Chase the line before you Touch the sand Where brand new lands await, now Find your world Feed the want within you Play the role Like Vyse, Link, Cloud before you All at stake It’s never a game to me, now Charge the sky For me, it’s what I play for Trails I make Are only a game to you, now Save the world For me, it’s all to play for

Soft Museum 05:26
Day time space Pushing pace Rat race chase Footsteps’ fall Time turns crawl Distant sprawl Drifting day Musings stray Fade away Where do you fly? You wave goodbye Strange sprung scene Verdant green Heart so keen Soaring style Mile for mile All a smile Where did you fly? I wave goodbye Will I ever… Wonder where I… Fly through this ideya Pull the thread Pillow head Could you ever… Take me where you… Catching this ideya Pull the thread Pillow head Will we ever… Wake up and be… Part from this ideya Pull the thread Pillow head

I ride the seven through four. I breathe the smoke that makes my lungs sore. I take the box to sixteen. I see the glass on the zeil gleam. I jump the straẞe both ways. I hug the crowd to skirt a cop’s gaze. I hear the planes on the air. I see the yellow splash the wall, there. At first my fingers make the colours run. I break the blocks, and watch the world scroll, Flutter on the goal pole. Then pick a flower for a power, now So I can charge at all the troopas, Fire all the bloopers. There should be magic in the air, here. But my hands begin to hollow, Cramping as the inks slow. A semicolon, and I vilify. I rush a line for an oblique trail, But to no avail. Turn left, then Turn right, then Should I have Turned into? Turn right, then Turn left, then Should I have Turned back then? I saw you I saw you I saw you For the first time I saw you I saw you I saw you And the next time

Hear the hissing in the pistons Rising rhythm through my feet Distance blooms into the sunlight Pulls away into the beat Chase the line to the horizon Rising thunder in my ears Distance falls into the darkness Lifts away from all my fears Watch the bow cutting passage to brio Where the lights spin kaleidoscope reels Choose the shade where my kopfkino wanders Rubicon snapping hard at my heels

[Iron Star] 01:23
Iron star Will we ever meet again?

Break the silence Dawn rays rise Where the toil waits Where I die Sail this ghost ship Deep in sleep Where the weight lives Where I weep Sink the head and sink the kicker Sink the stub and sink the comma Sink the flag and sink the mast Sink the quote then sink me last Orders piped, yet night is day Efforts all bring dark dismay Look around, where time stand still Gone the virtue – gone the thrill Heed the words on Danvers’ tongue Head of pig that taunts the young Some pale, blue eye bent on my loss Strike it down, this albatross! Sink the head and sink the kicker Sink the stub and sink the comma Sink the flag and sink the mast Sink the quote then sink me last Kill the copy, kill the strap Kill the widow, kill the cap Kill the banner, kill the lede Kill me with this savage read
